I started CrossFit because I felt that there had to be something more to working out than the traditional gym. Although I thought I was religious in my efforts, there was little or no direction and I found myself getting bored with the same old, same old. A good friend heard my complaining and directed me to Coach Leah. When I tried CrossFit and realized that I could get tons of direction and never-ending support while getting fit AND not have to spend hours in the gym, I was smitten.
I continue CrossFit because it is not just a daily workout or “WOD”, but a lifestyle. It is all encompassing including nutrition, mobility and functionality that keeps me fit today, tomorrow and for whatever the future throws at me. As a bonus, I have made an amazing group of friends and expanded my “Fit Fam”.
I have been doing CrossFit for 2 wonderful years and I’m hooked. I thought I was in the best shape of my life before and now I cannot believe the progress I have made. I look forward to seeing what the future brings.
My favourite Benchmark or Hero Wod’s are Murph or Filthy 50. I like the longer ones that I can settle into a good pace and work on consistency.
As a child I was exposed to many different sports including gymnastics, hockey, baseball and rugby. However, the one that really stuck with me was running. I have completed numerous half-marathons and one full. Although these days I prefer the shorter distances.
I have come to realize I LOVE coaching! First of all, our community is ever changing and evolving; I like meeting new people and learning from each individuals fitness journey. I took an extended hiatus from physical activity and my overall health in general in my early 20s. I turned my life around a few years ago and continue to amaze myself with my body’s ability to adapt and learn new things. So my favourite part of coaching is helping others realize this same potential regardless of age or starting point. Further on this, I see CrossFit as a lifestyle that is both functional and sustainable when done with consistency. Therefore, I want to continue building a community of people that will be able to maintain their fitness, and eventually, their independence for years to come.
